Cheerleaders Sexting – Parents of two cheerleaders booted off the Bothell High School cheer squad are suing the school district after the teen girls were caught sexting racy photos.
In another “cheerleeder sextng” incident, the Bothell High School cheerleaders took racy cellphone photos of themselves and then “accidentally” sent them to other students, including members of the football team.
In the course of investigating the racy cheerleader photos, the Bothell High School administrators took a good long look at the pics, but the girls parents allege in their lawsuit that they were not properly notified of the incident that led to the cheerleaders suspension from the cheer squad.
One of the photos was taken three years ago, according to court documents. Showing the girl topless, it was sent to her then-boyfriend’s phone in the summer of 2005. Later that summer, the picture accidentally was distributed to other Bothell High students, according to her lawsuit.
The other teen’s photo was taken in June, when she and a fellow cheerleader used their cell phones to each snap photos of themselves naked, according to her lawsuit. Those photos were later accidentally sent to other Bothell High students, though the parents attorney Matthew King said it was unclear how that happened.
Shortly after the June photos were taken, school officials heard rumors the pictures were circulating among students, particularly football players. They sent a letter to all cheerleaders’ parents, warning that if inappropriate photos were found, it could result in suspension from the squad.
Football players were told to delete the cheerleaders sexting photos from their cell phones if they received them, according to the lawsuits.
In August, school administrators received copies of both photos. The two sides dispute who first contacted police — the school or the girls’ parents — and whether the parents were properly notified of the incident.
Both lawsuits, filed Monday in King County Superior Court, accuse school administrators of violating the girls’ due process rights, needlessly sharing the photos with other school staff members and failing to promptly report the matter to police as possible child pornography.
Attorney Matthew King, who represents both families, said it also was troubling that the teens were punished, but football players and other students at the school who sent or received the texts were not.
“My clients fully realize what they did was stupid,” King said, adding that the girls never intended for the photos to be distributed and have been mortified by the entire incident.

What the heck schools expecting students to have moral values?? Amazing? Cheap kids come from cheat homes.
Suing the school for values that the girls should of been taught at home? Ya that’s fair! Clean up you house and you clean up your kids. No my daughter! Ya right, your daughter too. What do ya thing all those girls on those girls gone wild DVD’s are the same girl? Please! They are starting younger and younger. Wake up an buy the tracker it send copies of text & videos incoming and out going to the parents phones. Get a clue. Not knowing doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Yes it’s your girl/boy too.

A woman’s body is her’s alone and she is permitted to use it however she wants. If that involves taking pictures and sending them to other people then she should. It is her body to control only, not the government. What a girl does with her body is her business.

So school Administration reviewed the photos. That sounds like distributing child porn. I can understand school lawyers, but not admin. How many people in admin. saw these photos and was it necessary? What a crazy waste of time to ruin these kids lives.

wow i read about this in seventeen magizine and honistly this crap happends allll the time! and its not just cheerleaders either! infact one of my best friends was tryin to make her bf jealous and so she “sexted” some guy and it got wayyyyyy blown out of preportion!
people tend to make really dumb mistakes in there lifes, especialy teenage girls! i think people should really just lay off because they could be doing wayy worse then text the pictures to there boyfriends. and i also think its really cheap and crappy for people to try to make examples out of these girls. thats whats seriously wronge with the world these days people are sooo set on there own succese there willing to ruin a couple of teens lifes for a fifteen minute story!
and gator thats really shaddy of you to put that like up there and say that about her.
and from another cheerleaders perspective i think its really sad that two girls had to get kicked off of a sport that they were passioninate about because they made a simple error.
i wish those girls the best and hope that people learn from this and drop it.

Bottom line is that these kids are just that. To be perfectly honest, I’m 19 years old and I’ve grown exponentially emotionally since I graduated from highschool a year ago, and I’m not even close to being fully emotionally mature.
I think that it’s better that the adults in this situation are actually doing something to at least attempt to prevent further mistakes like this…It’s just cheerleading. I mean, it’s not as if cheerleading is going to amount to anything the minute they graduate. Conversely, these pictures could very easily ruin these girls social and even legal lives (If they were under 18, child pornography charges come into play). These “women” may have full reign over their bodies and their rights as females, but they are still children, legally, emotionally, socially speaking. If they were truly “Strong Women”, they wouldn’t feel the need to objectify themselves. Does that not set the feminist movement back about 75 years? Eh.
Personally, I think their punishment was totally warranted and appropriate, and the parents of these kids are pretty obnoxious for exploiting this situation. If they had their children’s best interests at heart, they would accept the punishment, sit their kids down and explain to them the dangers of stupidity, and then move on. This is a serious issue, regardless of the 16 year old children who may disagree. To all the 16 year olds out their who may think they’re old enough to make competent decisions: Nope.
