George Anthony Suicide Attempt – George Anthony, grandfather of murdered toddler Caylee Anthony, was hospitalized after a failed suicide attempt after fleeing Orlando to a motel in Daytona Beach.
Police found the missing grandfather in a suicidal state and spent hours convincing George Anthony to leave the seedy motel room where he planned to end his life. A suicide note was found on the nightstand.
George Anthony was hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act which allows for authorities to hold someone at a mental health facility for up to 72 hours while they are evaluated by physicians.
George Anthony disappeared Thursday afternoon and sent several text messages to his family members suggesting that he wanted to end his life, Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood told reporters this morning, acknowledging that he personally convinced Mr. Anthony to get medical help.
Detectives were able to use pings from George Anthony’s cell phone to track him to Daytona Beach where police spotted George Anthony’s black vehicle at the Hawaii Motel.
In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel this morning, Chitwood said he and several officers had to knock on the motel room door several times before Anthony answered.
Anthony was well dressed, laid back and low-key. Chitwood introduced himself, shook Anthony’s hand and explained why he was there.
“Mr. Anthony basically said to us, you know, I just need to get away. I need to think things through. That’s why he was there,” Chitwood said.
Anthony was not agitated, but he did want the chief and other officers to leave.
“He just wanted to be alone,” Chitwood said.
But the chief explained to George Anthony that because of the situation, they could not leave. Chitwood offered to drive Anthony in his unmarked car to the hospital and Anthony agreed.
On the way to the hospital, Chitwood said, George Anthony commented to him, “You don’t understand, do you? You just don’t understand what this is like.”
Earlier this week, detectives reported that a heart shaped sticker was placed on the duct tape that was wrapped around Caylee Anthony’s mouth.

The only person that I ever thought was half normal was George Anthony. The grandmother and brother are off the wall. George seemed to be the only one that would tell the truth about what Casey is really like before the terrible event happened. I think Casey gets her bizarre behaviour from her mother.

I probably would think of killing myself if my grandchild was murdered and my child was most likely the one responsible

It’s a sin what happened to the little angel! I understand were George is comming from, unless he had something to do with the murder and that’s wht he tried to committ! who knows.

I think the whole family knew what had happened and was trying to cover for their daughter……. thats why he tried to kill himself he couldnt life knowing that he knew and didnt do anything to prevent it. Sad Sad Sad situation and I hope that all involved pay for this horrible act.

I can’t believe how cold hearted so many people are towards this family. These Grandparents are suffering through something I can’t even imagine. You people must not have a child and are so into you, that you can’t even take a minute to have a true feeling in your heart for them. I have a 3 yr. old grand daughter, and if anything happened to her, my life would be over, but then to find out that my daughter did this would be the final thing to send me in the same direction as George Anthony. They have all my love and prayers and so does little Caylee.

Casey Anthony Affadavit – I Am Not Selling Caylee’s Story
ORLANDO, Fla. – Casey Anthony said Tuesday, March 10, 2009 that she believes prosecutors are “angry because I have refused to take a plea agreement for a crime that I did not commit.”
The handwritten words – including capital letters for “DID NOT” — are part of a sworn affidavit she signed on Tuesday.
The affidavit also states that she has no agreements to sell her story or “that of my daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony.”
Anthony’s defense attorney filed the affidavit as part of his objection to a prosecution motion that is seeking to find out where Anthony is getting money to fund her defense.
Prosecutors on Monday said they want a judge to find out where Anthony, who is charged with her daughter Caylee’s death, is getting the money to pay for her defense team.
They want Judge Stan Strickland to require Baez to produce all deposit records, retainer agreements and licensing arrangements. If any of these dealings exist, prosecutors want Casey Anthony to sign a waiver saying she’s aware of them. Baez said he’s been consulting an ethics lawyer all the way and said Monday he planned to file a sworn motion repeating his stance that he’s done nothing unethical.
Repeatedly, Baez has declined to say who is paying for her legal dream team. He said it’s nobody’s business.
As questions persisted, Baez said he has “done nothing but conduct myself in a most professional manner, and that he has done nothing unethical” when asked about the role he played in building the defense fund.
One of the lead prosecutors said this deal could lead to a potential conflict of interest for Baez. Baez said this is a “witch hunt,” and the state has “no evidence” to prove their allegations because he’s done nothing wrong.
If Baez has made improper side deals for book or movie rights to the case, prosecutors said the arrangement could be “fraught with potential conflict of interest.” One criminal defense attorney said it could give Casey Anthony grounds to ask for another trial.
For their part, prosecutors said they “are not trying to block Baez from representing Casey.”
Meanwhile, on Thursday, attorneys for Casey Anthony and her parents, George and Cindy, are scheduled to head back to court to argue motions. The Anthonys’ attorney is going to ask the judge to keep George Anthony’s suicide note from being made public.

Leave the anthony’s alone, these people have endured enough heartache. They loved this precious baby and this whole nightmare is tragic. Casey is innocent until proved guility or have you forgotten the constitution? Judge not least ye be judged.
