Casey Anthony Trial Date – Casey Anthony, mother of murdered toddler Caylee Anthony, had her murder trial date set for October 12, 2009 by Orange County Judge Stan Strickland.

Casey Anthony trial date hearing

Casey Marie Anthony, 22, is charged with killing her daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, whose scattered remains were found December 11, 2008 in thick woods near her grandparents home.

The judge also ruled that it’s OK to let the public see images from Casey Anthony’s online picture-sharing account at PhotoBucket. However, Strickland has yet to rule on whether the public can view the video of Anthony’s jailhouse reaction to the news of a child’s remains found less than a mile from her home, a judge ruled Monday.

Circuit Judge Stan Strickland also set a tentative date of Oct.12 for Casey Anthony’s first-degree murder trial, which could last more than a month. A high-profile jury selection expert has joined Anthony’s defense team.

Anthony’s parents, George and Cindy Anthony, watched as lawyers argued about whether the latest photo and video evidence in the case should be released as public records. It was the first time the couple had seen their daughter in months.

Their attorney said the Anthonys attended the hearing to support their daughter, but they made no public statements after leaving the hearing.

Jail videotape
The disputed video was taken in the jail clinic on the day the remains were found. Sources say the video shows Anthony hyperventilating.

Investigators and prosecutors have copies of the video, yet it’s unclear whether the state will use it against her at trial.

Anthony’s lead attorney, José Baez, said the video violated his client’s privacy and might prejudice people against her.

He also said he was kept waiting to see Anthony, even though she requested to speak to him.

A jail official said Casey Anthony needed to be cleared by the jail clinic staff before Baez could see her.

Robert Guthrie, attorney for the jail, said it’s routine for inmates receiving bad news to be moved to the clinic where they have access to counselors.

The camera that recorded her reaction is fixed on the common area.

“We object to the characterization of a conspiracy,” he said.

Florida’s public-records laws require prosecutors to release investigative documents once they turn over the materials to the defense team.

There are some exemptions, such as autopsy pictures, and judges can order restrictions on other items.

Judge Strickland allowed Baez to see the jail video and decide within 15 days whether he will ask the court to bar the state from releasing it to the public

Hundreds of other pictures of Anthony could become public within several weeks when prosecutors release more evidence.

Strickland denied Baez’s request to stop release of pictures of his client taken from her account at photo bucket.com.

The lawyer wanted Strickland to order the state to limit what pictures could be released, saying many are irrelevant to the case and could hamper his client’s right to a fair trial.

“We are playing with fire when we are playing with the right to a fair trial,” Baez said.

And that’s the latest news on the Casey Anthony trial date.
