Miley’s dad - country singer Billy Ray Cyrus - is fine, but there’s no telling how bad Miley’s strep throat will be for tomorrow night’s show.

Strep is particularly dangerous for singers because of possible damage to vocal cords by overusing them when they are inflamed by the infection and strained by other sore throat symptoms.

Symptoms of strep include fever, red and white patches in the throat, red and enlarged tonsils, headache, tender or swollen lymph glands in the neck, and difficulty swallowing.

Caused by the group A streptococcus bacteria, strep throat is common among teens and is generally treated by a multi-day course of antiobiotics, plenty of fluids, and bed rest.
