Bill Murray and Jennifer Butler Murray have four sons, aged 7 to 15, and while they’ve been married almost 11 years, they’ve lived apart since 2006 when Jennifer bought a $3.65 million dollar home on luxurious Sullivan’s Island near Charleston, SC.
Bill Murray’s wife Jennifer Butler was his second marriage and their affair while both were still married was instrumental in breaking up his first marriage to Margaret Murray, mother of his oldest son Homer.
Jennifer Butler Murray was born Jennifer Lynn Feldpausch in Irving, Texas on May 11, 1966 and Jennifer Butler was her married name.
She met Bill Murray while working as a costume designer and the two fell in love, divorced their spouses, and got married.
Bill Murray and first wife Margaret, who separated in 1994, were married from 1980-1996 and Bill and Jennifer were married from 1997-2008.
The couple signed a prenuptial agreement, which was filed as an exhibit with the divorce papers, before they married on July 4, 1997. As part of the agreement, both waived their right to alimony or support if the marriage broke up. In the prenup, Murray also agreed to pay $7 million to his ex-wife within 60 days of a final divorce decree.
According to the complaint, Jennifer Butler Murray moved into a Sullivan’s Island home in 2006 with the couple’s four children due to her husband’s “adultery, addiction to marijuana and alcohol, abusive behavior, physical abuse, sexual addictions and frequent abandonment.”
The complaint, which doesn’t specify instances of Murray’s alleged marijuana or alcohol use, alleges he would often leave without telling Jennifer and says he “travels overseas where he engages in public and private altercations and sexual liaisons.”
It also alleges Murray physically abused his wife and that last November he “hit her in the face and then told her she was `lucky he didn’t kill her.’”
Before marrying Bill Murray, Jennifer Butler worked on costume designs for hit films like Scrooged, Ghostbusters II, What About Bob, and The Last of the Mohicans.
Jennifer was also nominated for a Saturn Award for her work on Murray’s signature leading man flick, Groundhog Day.

Bill Murray Divorce Details
Jennifer Murray is requesting sole custody of the couple’s children Caleb, 15, Jackson, 12, Cooper, 11, and Lincoln, who turns seven today.
Bill Murray’s wife offers ‘reasonable visitation’ for the actor, ’so long as he conducts himself in a proper manner, obeys all restraining orders, and does not involve the children in this litigation’.
She also wants Murray to be ’solely responsible for any and all costs and expenses associated with the children’.
Jennifer Murray insists she was a ‘good, true, devoted and faithful wife’ who maintained ‘a good home for her husband and four children’.
Her restraining order seeks to stop him ‘interfering with, abusing, intimidating, threatening, threatening to abuse or molesting’ his wife and ’stalking, or making abusive or threatening phone calls or text messages, to her or the children’.
She also seeks to stop Murray ‘from exposing the children to any person with whom he is sexually or romantically involved, or anyone taking or in possession of illegal drugs’.

Backstory on Jennifer Butler
Bill Murray met Jennifer Butler when she worked as a costumer on the production set of Scrooged in 1988.
Bill made sure she worked on all his next films as the pair developed a romantic relationship even though Bill was still married to Margaret “Mickey” Murray at the time, the mother of his sons Homer and Luke.
Bill and Jennifer Butler had three sons out of wedlock - Jackson, born in 1993, Cal in 1995 and Cooper in 1996 - before getting married July 4, 1997.
Their youngest son Lincoln was born in 2001 and the couple separated in 2006 when Jennifer and the boys moved out of Bill’s Charleston, SC home and into the oceanfront home on nearby Sullivan’s Island.

Bill Murray and his wife Jennifer Butler Murray have finalized their divorce — a month after she accused him of adultery and drug use.
According to the June 13, 2008 court documents, the 57-year old comedian has been ordered to pay child support.
She will have custody of their four kids and keep all their properties in her name.
He must also pay her a lump sum of $7 million as specified in the prenup. They had signed a prenup that is still valid, according the court papers.
The news comes a month after she accused him of adultery, addiction to marijuana and alcohol, abusive behavior, physical abuse and sexual addictions.
So, basically she threw a bunch of dirt at Bill Murray and nothing changed as the prenup was ruled still valid.
It spelled out the lump sum payment, child support, and property issues years ago.
Christ, she had three kids with Bill BEFORE they got married, and she didn’t know what he was like?
Come on!!!!
