Authorities say Jared Yaffe ran a San Diego child pornography ring by contracting with baby sitters to bring him children he molested while taking pictures and videotaping the acts.

San Diego police arrested the 24-year old babysitter, Aaron Zendejas, on January 28, 2009, after receiving complaints from parents, but Yaffe fled before police could arrest him.

However, police did find corroborating photographic and video evidence on Jared Ravin Yaffe’s home computer and cell phone.

The State Department’s Diplomatic Security Criminal Liaison Office and Diplomatic Security Service agents were instrumental in the capture of Yaffe by tracking him after he fled to Germany, Austria, Romania and then finally Brazil, which has no extradition treaty with the U.S.

DSS agents worked closely with Brazilian law enforcement to convince a judge in Sao Paulo, Brazil that Yaffe was in their country illegally.
