Lindsey Baum – 10-year old Lindsey Baum, aka Lindsay Baum, disappeared Friday evening while walking four blocks home in small town McCleary, Washington.
Lindsey Baum is 4′ 9″ tall, 80 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing a gray or blue hooded pullover sweatshirt, with blue jeans and black shoes.
Lindsey was at her best friend’s house, hoping that her friend could come home with her and spend the night. Lindsey went there with her 12-year old brother Josh, but their vocal squabbling on the way led to a neighbor intervening and sending Josh home without his younger sister. Lindsey had also left her cell phone at home recharging the battery.
After finding out her friend couldn’t spend the night, Lindsey headed home in plenty of time to meet her 10 p.m. curfew.
When she didn’t show up, her mother Melissa Baum got anxious and began searching for her missing daughter, even letting the family’s German Shepherd off the leash in hopes he could find her scent.
By 10:45 p.m. and with no sign of the 10-year old girl, Melissa Baum called police.
The frantic search revealed no sign of the young girl and nothing unusual being seen by neighbors in the small town of 1,500 people.
Lindsey was last seen about halfway home by a woman who was on her way to work, but despite massive police and FBI searches the next four days, no other clues or tips have turned up.
“I think she’s alive,” Melissa Baum said. “I really and truly feel that strongly in my heart.”
“If we can find her,” her mother said, “we can work through anything.”
“In my heart I know she’s alive, but I need her home.”

The last person to see Lindsey was a resident driving through town who saw her walking on Maple Street between Fifth and Sixth streets around 9:15 p.m. – about the halfway point between the two homes, Scott said. People said light was waning but the sun hadn’t gone down.

Police did not issue an Amber Alert for Lindsey after her mother reported her missing at 10:50 p.m. Friday, Grays Harbor County Undersheriff Rick Scott said.
Scott said an Amber Alert wasn’t issued because police had – and still have – no evidence that she was abducted.

McCleary is a small town. It is also a town that many people pass through to get to the freeway. People in other towns, close or not, should be on watch for suspicious activity. This is haunting me and I woudl like to see a positive outcome in this story. This is a time to come together and find this little girl. She is counting on all of us to find her. I don’t know what else to do but to spread the word. Please look at her picture and get her face memorized and look for her. I pray for her and her family in this desperate time. Another failure by a police department to do the right thing. A Amber alert should go out every time a child goes missing the moment its reported. It is much more acceptable to put out a Amber alert on a child who it turns out was not abducted then to fail to put one out on a child who was abducted. I think that city needs a new chief of police. By the time they got the Amber Alert out on her she could have been anywhere.

I am curious if people are continuing to search the hills.If i lived close(was born in Mccleary) I would take the time to take my own two dogs up in the hills. I think searching should continue.Now I know this comment will draw static..but I will say it anyway.My family, mainly two older uncles used to tell me of their experiences finding lost livestock and other things lost with using the pendulem over a map and witnessed one experience when I was twelve..lots on websites about using a pendulem for finding lost things..does it hurt to try, whether or not you believe in it?
