7 Teens Shot Near High School – Detroit police say at least seven teenagers have been shot near a high school and two are in critical condition.

Detroit Police spokesman Rod Liggons tells WXYZ-TV the victims were shot Tuesday afternoon at a bus stop by gunmen who emerged from a green minivan.

Detroit Public Schools Police Chief Roderick Grimes says at least five students attending classes at Cody High School were shot. He says two are in critical condition.

Grimes says two or possibly three gunmen asked for a person by name before opening fire on the crowd.

Detroit Public Schools spokesman Steve Wasko says the shooting took place about a block away from Cody High School shortly after summer school classes got out. He didn’t know if all of the teens shot are students at the school.

Approximately 15 minutes after summer school’s 2 p.m. dismissal, the group was at the Shell gas station at West Warren and Southfield when a car pulled in and the passengers got into a fight with them, Wasko said.

Authorities said the suspects had shirts wrapped around their faces and ran from a gas station and behind some apartments, then got into a green minivan.
