Man Charged $23 Quadrillion For Cigarettes – A New Hampshire man who used his debit card at a gas station to buy a pack of cigarettes was charged over $23 quadrillion dollars.

Josh Muszynski discovered the slight overcharge when he checked his account online a few hours after the purchase. He knew cigarette prices were going up, but thought this might be a tad excessive.

The cost of the pack of cigarettes was a 17-digit number — a stunning $23,148,855,308,184,500 (twenty-three quadrillion, one hundred forty-eight trillion, eight hundred fifty-five billion, three hundred eight million, one hundred eighty-four thousand, five hundred dollars) – and seemed a little excessive.

John Muszynski told reporters that he spent two hours on the phone with Bank of America trying to get the charge adjusted and get the overdraft fee waived.

The bank investigated and finally corrected the error the next day.

Bank of America said the card issuer, Visa, could answer questions about the pricey cigarette purchase. Visa, not surprisingly, referred questions to the bank.
