Mischa Barton Breakdown – Former O.C. star Mischa Barton was hospitalized in the psych ward of Cedar Sinai Hospital after calling 911 on July 15, 2009 and asking police for help.
The breakdown Mischa Barton experienced may have something to do with excessive drinking as friends told reporters the formerly rail thin actress was bloated and mentally unstable.
The 23-year-old actress, who two months earlier said that she was happy and healthy, called police at 3 p.m. Wednesday with a health problem, LAPD Officer April Harding told the press.
“We assisted her with a medical issue and removed her from her home,” says Harding. She adds that no paramedics were involved and no arrests were made, but confidentiality laws prevent her from revealing details about Barton’s condition.
The star’s friend Craig Schneider, told reporters that police were only needed to protect the former O.C. star from the media as she was transported to her doctor.
“Police were involved due to Ms. Barton’s celebrity status, to safely transfer her to medical treatment as per doctor’s orders,” Schneider told reporters, adding that Barton is now “okay and resting.”
Austin Stark, producer of Barton’s last film “Homecoming” said, “There were some medical problems. She’s not able to travel, as far as I know.”

Access Hollywood is alleging LAPD officers placed Barton under a 5150 hold, reserved for individuals who present a danger to themselves or others, are gravely disabled or suffer from a mental disorder.
Britney Spears was subjected to the same hold after her meltdown back in January 2008.

Is Mischa Barton drinking heavily?
“Mischa is so unhealthy and out of control,” a source told reporters.
While the 23-year-old actress is trying to claim her new, blown-up look is due to swelling after having wisdom teeth removed, sources close to Mischa insist her lifestyle is at fault for the shocking change in her looks.
After all, swelling from dental surgery only lasts a few days, not a few months.
“She’ll down anything — wine, beer, vodka — whatever she can get her hands on!” explains an insider. “Most nights she’s getting smashed until 2 or 3 a.m. It’s sad.”
Mischa’s friend said, “She’s partying nonstop, and it’s ruining every aspect of her life. Her health, relationships and career are all going to hell. She’s a train wreck, and everyone sees it.”

I think she looks better in the more current photos of her then she did before. In some of the photos, she looks so gaunt.
