Tropical Storm Danny – The newest tropical storm of the 2009 hurricane season, Danny, has formed in the Caribbean and is headed toward the Bahamas and southern Florida.

No word on when Tropical Storm Danny will reach hurricane strength, but this cyclone formed very close to the islands and it will pass through some very warm waters as it travels west-northwestward at 20 mph toward Florida.

In addition, the National Hurricane Center says that upper-level winds ahead of Danny are becoming more conducive to strengthening.

Danny’s projected path currently varies widely on the computer models with many showing a sharp curve northward which could mean the storm making landfall as far north as the Carolinas.

Meanwhile , tropical storm warnings have been issued for the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos and a Hurricane Hunter aircraft has been sent to get more detailed readings from within the cyclone.
