H1N1 Flu Prevention:
- Get your H1N1 flu shot right away
- Wash your hands with soap & water for 20 seconds after touching doorknobs or people’s hands
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap & water aren’t available
- Cover your nose & mouth when coughing and avoid touching your face with your hands
- Eat healthy food and take Vitamin C during cold & flu season
- Limit exposure to sick people during their first few days of the flu
- Remind children to wash their hands often as they tend to be exposed to other children who are sick
- If you have flu symptoms, see your doctor immediately and then stay at home to avoid spreading the H1N1 virus to friends, family, and co-workers.

Some important tips were not listed such as blowing nose hard, cleaning out your nose by flushing a salt water solution through it and swabbilng nostrils with Q-tips dipped in salt water periodically. And, I have heard that drinking warm liquids moves bacteria from the mouth to the stomach where bacteria will not survivie. Also, gargling and washing out the mouth with salt water twice daily helps kill bacteria. Prevention needs to come in the form of various things like vitamin C with zinc, and echinacia and other healthy immune system building substances. And getting plenty of rest.
