The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to President Barack Obama – who didn’t deserve it – with a nomination based on only his first twelve days in office.
Nominations for the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize closed February 1, 2009, just 12 days after Obama took office on January 20, 2009. Obama’s prior political efforts in the Senate produced absolutely nothing on the world peace front.
Supposedly, the Nobel committee awarded the Peace Prize to Obama for his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism, but none of that occurred during the year for which the prize was awarded.
And, nothing was achieved in the first 12 days of Obama’s presidency that had any effect whatsoever on world peace either.
The Nobel committee has succeeded only in making a laughingstock out of what was once a widely respected award.
Former Polish President Lech Walesa, who won the 1983 Nobel Peace prize, said upon hearing the news, “So soon? Too early. He has no contribution so far. He is still at an early stage. He is only beginning to act.”

The Swedish Peace and Arbitration Society (Svenska Freds) has classified as “shameful” the decision by the Nobel Committee in Oslo to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 to Barack Obama.
“The choice of Barack Obama as the recipient of the world’s foremost peace prize is shocking,” said the group’s chairwoman Anna Ek in a statement.
Ek conceded that the US president had sent “positive signals” with regard to his future commitment to global peace.
“But at the same time Obama is the president of the biggest military power in the world and is waging two wars in the world. That should certainly disqualify him from a peace prize,” said Ek.

Yes, Mr. Obama does deserve the Nobel Peace Prize and a whole lot more respect than he has been getting. He is a fine, upstanding man and as an African American, I feel that he is, was, and always will be the best President we could have had in this period of history. My people’s experience in this hemisphere is best described as lemonade without the sugar. Thank you Mr. President for addng the sugar to that drink. You brought your plan to the people and I for one have watched you in awe most of the time. I admire how you disregard the potential distractions hurled at you and keep moving toward the goal–to bring this country into its rightful place in the world. Let’s face it, this country has fallen from grace a long time ago. Keep the swagger and keep moving with the righteous wind at your back. May God continue to bless and protect you and your family.
It should be remembered that Bush lied and people died and are still dying. No one has vilified him for feathering his nest to the tune of 10 years Secret Service Protection. Let’s stop focusing on the color of President Obama’s skin and focus more on his call to action. Pick up a piece of the action and work it in your own little corner of the world to make this world a better place until the time when such comments, chicanery and foolhardiness as I have been witnessing since November 8, 2009, is no longer a part of the world we will live in.

Obama deserves Nobel Peace Prise just because he is black?
As a Swede I find it necessary to enlighten certain members of United States (Sweden is a country in northern europe by the way) that Nobel prise is given for extraordinary achievements!
People deserving Peace Prise are Dalai Lama, Ghandi, Mandela and Mother Theresa. Obama’s only similarity to those people is that he is a human being.
Pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan, stop orchestrating incidents in Iran, destroy the nukes secretly stashed away during START1 agreement, recover USA economy and improve social status of americans – then maybe….

If you wanna refer to someone as African American, surely you should expect the color of skin to count!!!
Be American or African…your first paragraph invalidates the second. The first paragraph says Obama should be removed from office immediately…President is a title for an America, period, not someone with divided loyalties (USA/Africa).
And, I don’t live in “your world”! Mine has every human being as equals, judged not on skin color/nationality/religion! Nor referred to by those prejudicial titles either.
