Scott Coletta Crash Video - Pics and video of Scott Coletta killed in a fiery crash during a Funny Car drag race at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

The Scott Coletta crash video is pretty horrific with the race car exploding on the race track and catching fire inside before smashing into a retaining wall at the end of the track.
Scott Coletta’s car doesn’t slow down, and spectators at the track watched in horror as Coletta’s car exploded, hit a sand trap, then vaulted over a protective catch fence.
Witnesses said Coletta was speeding at an estimated 300 mph during the National Hot Rod Association Super Nationals when the engine of his Toyota Solara exploded in a ball of flames.

“The driver was killed after he lost control of his vehicle,” said Sgt. Julian Castellanos, a spokesman for the State Police.
Scott Coletta was killed at the same track where he started drag racing in 1982. He is survived by wife Kathy and sons Corey, 15, and Colin, 8.

I have been a christian since 1992 and I love the Lord Jesus Christ,,, and I pray for the family and friends at this time of a great loss, to a man that loved his family and friends,,, and the sport he loved… In the early 70’s (1970’s) I ran a 1971 Camero that I drag raced with,,, and I know what excitment it is. I always prayed I could drive a “Funny Car”,,, and still do… My prayers are with the Kalitta Family,,, and I pray Scott was a christian,,, and is now with our Lord Jesus Christ… The apostle Paul said, “Absent from the body,,, present in the Lord” … Scott is with our Lord Jesus Christ for eternity,,, and we will see him again…
With love,,, Rick Staples

I was at the race with my dad and uncle when this happened… It was incredibly horrifiying and people didn’t know what to think. With no announcement pertaining to the news of Scott, people were confused and dreaded the worst, with rumors flying around about the news. With heavy hearts, the race-goers assumed “If there’s no news, then it’s not good.” It was an awful sight; I was sitting on the far side of the track in the video, and as soon as a I saw the first explosion and the debris shoot 75-100 feet in the air, everyone jumped up to see what was happening. The second explosion was unimaginable, something that would only be seen in the movies. You could only think, How could anyone survive a thing like that? People die all the time in regular cars from collisions on a scale 1000 times smaller than that; everyone guessed Scott either underwent a life-altering injury, or died a tragic death. As a 13-year old boy, I do some heavy thinking of things I do not fully understand yet. After the crash, I had been thinking of Scott, and how he probably had a fraction of a thought running through his head before the collision, it happened so fast. I also realized that I, along with thousands of others, witnessed the last, say, 5 seconds of this stranger’s life, and captured a photo of his trusty DHL funny car screaming down that track for the last time before things turned for the worst. It’s better knowing that Scott did not suffer, and he died doing what he loved to do. I pray for Scott’s family through this horribly tragic event, and I hope God lifts their heavy hearts. All NHRA fans and friends of Scott will always remember the legacy of him.

I have been a fan for many years. I have great pictures of a young Scott and a young (me). We are around the same age and I really enjoyed watching him race. I remember when he retired the first time, to spend more time with his family. I was dissapointed. Looking back I am glad that his family got those years. They wont have any future years together. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and children, and also with Connie and his racing family. Scott, rest in peace.
