Joshua Powell Now Murder Suspect – Salt Lake City police are finally considering Joshua Powell a murder suspect in the disappearance of his wife Susan Powell.
It took a week for police to finally see how suspicious Joshua Powell’s behavior has been since his wife mysteriously disappeared from their locked home in the middle of the night while he was on a camping trip with his two sons.
Now what father in his right mind leaves home at 12:30 at night with two children aged 2 and 4 to camp outside at a state park in the rain and snow when its only ten degrees outside?
And why did he leave two fans blowing dry a large freshly scrubbed wet spot on the kitchen floor?
Joshua Powell told police they slept in the family van and that he forgot to call in to work the next morning, claiming to police that he’d forgotten what day it was.
Captain Tom McLachlan of the West Valley police told ABCNews.com that, “he is the last person we know who saw Susan … it is our position he’s been hindering the investigation”.
Assistant Police Chief Craig Black said, “We’ve been interested in what Josh Powell has had to say all along.”
Black said that detectives have met twice with Josh Powell. “He submitted to a search warrant and provided a DNA sample.”
“I wouldn’t characterize him (Joshua Powell) as being cooperative,” Black added.
Susan Powell was reported missing on Dec. 7 after she failed to take her children to day care and didn’t report to work.
Police, who first thought the family may have been poisoned by carbon monoxide, broke into the house when no one answered the door. They found no one home but two fans aimed at a wet spot on the floor and said there was no sign of forced entry.
