Bristol Palin Custody Battle – An Alaska judge ruled Christmas Eve that the custody battle between Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston will be heard in open court.

The November 3 petition filed by 18-year old Bristol Palin for sole custody and child support also seeks a visitation schedule for Levi Johnston, the father of 1-year-old Tripp.

The heated custody battle between Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol and Levi Johnston, the father of Palin’s grandson is already getting ugly.

Bristol Palin says her ex-fiance has exercised only “sporadic visitation rights” and that Levi Johnston “is not ready for the demands of parenthood.”

Bristol claimed in her court filing that his primary source of income has been a risque photo spread in Playgirl and selling stories to the press about the Palin family and her famous mother.

19-year-old Levi Johnston is seeking shared custody and denies in court documents that he has avoided his responsibilities.

“Public scrutiny will act as a check against anyone’s need to be overly vindictive, aggressive or malicious, not that Bristol would ever be that way, but her mother is powerful, politically ambitious and has a reputation for being extremely vindictive,” Levi Johnston stated in an affidavit supporting his request for an open hearing in the custody battle.

A judge ruled last week in Johnston’s favor that the filings and continuing proceedings be open to the public.

Undoubtedly more salacious tidbits will emerge as the mud throwing continues.

And that’s the latest news on the Bristol Palin custody battle.
