Low-Carb Diet Lowers Blood Pressure – Eating a diet low in carbohydrates actually lowers your blood pressure as well as your weight, according to a new study.

Research subjects randomly assigned to a low-carb regimen lost about as much weight as patients following a low-fat plan and taking a weight-loss drug.
In this research study, a generic version of the weight-loss medication marketed as “Alli” was used.
Those on the low-carb diet showed a significant drop in blood pressure readings.
Twice as many people on the low-carb diet lowered their blood pressure compared to those taking the drug, orlistat, the generic version of Alli.
“Weight loss was similar but substantial in both groups we studied, but blood pressure improved more in the low-carb dieters,” says the lead researcher.
“It’s important to know you can try a diet instead of medication and get the same weight loss results with fewer costs and potentially fewer side effects.”

I have been preaching this for years. I am living proof. I started low carb 3 years ago to control Type 2 diabetes. I’ve been off all medications ever since. I also lost 65 lbs. My doctor tells me that whatever I’m doing keep doing it. Blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol (both), lipids, triglycerides, everything they test, is normal or even better, ideal. I’m so passionate about this we started a low carb website with recipes and tips, facebook fan page, and daily blogs on how I live low carb. Check it out at http://www.ourlowcarblife.com.
