2008 Olympic Medal Count – The United States leads the 2008 Olympic medal count followed closely by Russia and China in a startingly accurate prediction of actual totals.

The 2008 Olympic medal count predictions are based on five basic pieces of data for each participating nation: GDP per capita, total population, political structure (democratic, authoritarian, military or communist), climate (the number of frost days) and home-nation bias.
The Olympic medal count predictions by Daniel Johnson, a professor at Colorado College, have been 96% accurate since the 2000 Olympics.

“We were so accurate we thought we’d made a mistake,” he says and calls for predictions for the 2008 olympics poured in.
The 2008 Olympic medal results posted above are Johnson’s figures for the Beijing Games. It should be interesting to see if the 96% accuracy is achieved for the fifth time.
And that’s the latest news on the 2008 Olympic medal count.
