Jessica Gonzalez – Rhode Island inmate Jessica Gonzalez, who commited a cold-blooded murder at 13, is being paroled 35 years early after having sex with her parole supervisor.

The Jessica Gonzalez story is a cautionary one with Gonzalez, now 25, working in an elder care facility under the supervision of a prison contract employee who had sex with Jessica and another inmate.

Rumors swirled throughout Rhode Island that the young killer was pregnant after her sexual relationship with her guard, but officials have denied it.

Gonzalez is schedule to be released on parole this month - 35 years early – for “good behavior” and won’t be penalized for having sex with her supervisor.

Jessica Gonzalez was only 13 when, on a September evening in 1996, she shot and killed 23-year-old Maria Rivera, a single mother.

The slaying happened only a few hours after the two former roommates had a fistfight in the middle of a Providence, Rhode Island street after Gonzalez accused Rivera of trying to steal her boyfriend.

Later, Gonzalez took her mother’s boyfriend’s car and drove to Rivera’s apartment, where police said she called Maria Rivera over to the driver’s window and then shot her between the eyes.

Prosecutors agreed to reduce the original charge of first-degree murder, which carried a mandatory life sentence, to second-degree murder as long as a lengthy sentence was given. A superior court judge sentenced Gonzalez to serve 45 years of a 60-year sentence.

Parole Board minutes show the board wanted Gonzalez released in time to take classes part time next month at the Community College of Rhode Island.
