Ashley Ellerin – The stabbing death of 22-year old Ashley Ellerin in 2001 happened just before Ashton Kutcher arived to pick Ashley up for a post-Grammy party.

When Ellerin failed to answer the door, Kutcher walked around the back of her house and peered in the window, seeing nothing but what he thought at the time were red wine stains on the carpet.

Ashley Ellerin’s body was discovered the next day by a friend and Kutcher told police what he had seen the night before. Ashton was never considered a suspect in the case.

Ashley’s murder remained unsolved for seven years until police cracked the case by linking DNA evidence to a serial killer name Michael Gargiulo, who was arrested in July for another knife attack on a Santa Monica woman.

Santa Monica police Lt. Darrell Lowe said DNA collected from the crime scene helped link Gargiulo to the stabbing deaths of Ellerin in Hollywood Hills, a high school classmate in suburban Chicago in 1993, and a 2005 murder in Monterey Park, California.

Gargiulo’s attorney, Anthony Salerno, said his client denies involvement in any of the attacks and “thinks the police are out to get him.”

Salerno acknowledged Gargiulo will possibly be charged with murder for the three slayings. He said that Gargiulo lived near each of the four victims at the time of the attacks and that a garment of his was found in one of the victims’ homes.

Kutcher briefly dated Ellerin in between longer relationships with actresses January Jones, from 1998 to 2001, and Ashley Scott, from 2001 to 2002.

And that’s the latest news on the serial killer arrest in the stabbing death of Ashley Ellerin.
