Nicholas Browning - Sixteen year old Nicholas Browning pled guilty to four counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of his parents and two younger brothers.

Nicholas Browning told police detectives that he stood over his father with a gun for 20 to 25 minutes before shooting him in the head, saying that after also shooting his mother and brothers, he tried to make it look like a burglary.

Browning also told the detectives investigating the fatal shootings that he killed his two younger brothers because he thought it was the only way he could get away with killing his parents.

These statements from Nicholas W. Browning - from court testimony during a July hearing at which a judge ruled the 16-year-old would be tried for murder in adult court rather than in the juvenile system - led to his guilty plea on four counts of premeditated murder.

Prosecutors say that Browning, a high school sophomore, killed his parents, John and Tamara Browning - a lawyer and a former PTA president, respectively - and his brothers, Gregory, 14, and Benjamin, 11, in the early-morning hours of February 2, 2008.

The deaths occurred one week before Nicholas Browning’s 16th birthday.

Browning walked home about three miles from a friend’s house in the middle of the night and fatally shot each member of his family one by one while they slept, then returned to his friend’s house to play Xbox.

After confessing and telling police where to find the murder weapon, Nicholas claimed his parents abused him by hitting him.
