Tropical Storm Paloma – Projected path of Tropical Storm Paloma shows the tropical storm quickly reaching hurricane strength Friday and Category 2 status Saturday before landfall in Cuba.

Paloma’s wind strength should top 100 mph, making the 17th tropical storm of the season a powerful Category 2 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

The National Hurricane Center predicts that Paloma will reach hurricane strength well before passing over the Cayman Islands Saturday.

The NHC also forecasts Paloma to retain tropical storm force winds while moving through the Bahamas after crossing Cuba.
