Gregory Halman Brother – Major League baseball player Gregory Halman’s brother Jason Halman has been arrested in Holland for Gregory’s stabbing death.
Gregory Halman’s brother Jason was arrested in connection with the death of the Seattle Mariners star in the early hours of this morning both police and the player’s family have confirmed the news. There is no information on the motive for the stabbing.
Rotterdam police issued a statement: “24 year old Gregory Halman died this morning in a stabbing and we have arrested his 22 year old brother of the victim Jason Halman.”
Gregory Halman was a Dutch national, born in Haarlem, Netherlands. When he was 17 and right of out high school, he moved to the U.S. after signing with the Seattle Mariners in June 2004.
The outfield player was one of the country’s most successful baseball exports. In 2009, he earned the ‘best power hitter’ tag and ‘best athlete’ with the Seattle Mariners and and rose steadily through the Major League ranks.
Gregory Halman’s father, Eddy, and brother, Jason, had also played on a Dutch national baseball team.
In interviews with sports media Halman had always referenced his love for his family back in Holland. He had admitted it was a struggle leaving his ‘supportive’ family behind to live in the United States. “It was hard coming from a big family with love around you,” he said in an interview with Tacoma Weekly last year. ‘But playing baseball was always my goal, so when I was feeling homesick I would tell myself this is what I always wanted to do. It was tough.”
