Ashley Grills – Pics and video of Ashley Grills, the unindicted co-consprator with Lori Drew, the 39-year old woman indicted in the MySpace taunting that led to the Megan Meier suicide.
As Lori Drew’s employee, Ashley Grills created the fake MySpace profile of “Josh Evans” – a hunky 16-year old boy – that Ashley Grills and Lori Drew’s daughter Sarah used to torment 13-year old Megan Meier to death.
Under Lori Drew’s direction, the 18-year old Grills along with 13-year old Sarah Drew and 13-year old Jessica Mulford at first used the fake MySpace profile to fool 13-year old Megan Meier into a pretend online romance with a fictional boy, then viciously turned on her and hounded her to death with devastating remarks.
Both Ashley Grills and Lori Drew knew that 13-year old Megan was already taking medication for depression, but told police investigators that they really meant no harm, they just wanted to know what Megan was saying online about her ex-friend and neighbor Sarah Drew.
Not sure why any adult would think it was OK to torment a 13-year old for more than a month just to find out what Megan said about her ex-friend, whom she avoided after being teased by her at school about being overweight and not having a boyfriend.
Ashley Grills told police that she never meant any harm to young Megan and only did what her boss told her to do. Of course, Nazi concentration camp officers said the same thing at Nuremburg.
After Megan Meier’s trio of tormentors ended the online relationship between Megan and the fictional “Josh Evans” with an email that said ‘the world would be a better place without you’, Megan broke down and hung herself in her bedroom closet while her mother cooked dinner downstairs.
Upon seeing ambulances pull up at the Meier’s house across the street, Ashley quickly deleted the fake “Josh Evans” MySpace account while Lori Drew called their 13-year old neighbor, Jessica Mulford, and told her to keep her mouth shut about everything.
When the proverbial stuff hit the fan, Ashley Grills conveniently checked into a psychiatric care facility and hid from all contact with media and police investigators before finally giving a statement that laid all the blame on her boss and made herself look like an unwitting dupe who didn’t do anything wrong.
Lori Drew was indicted today for her role in the MySpace-related suicide of Megan Meier on charges of conspiracy and accessing protected computers without authorization to inflict emotional distress. Drew faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
“Any adult who uses the internet or a social gathering website to bully or harass another person, particularly a young teenage girl, needs to realize that their actions can have serious consequences,” Los Angeles federal prosecutor Thomas O’Brien, who brought the charges, said in a statement.
